April Journal Expanding My Education Not My Waistline

April Journal.

I’m Alive…

I know you were wondering if I was still alive… I mean one blog post last month. Not good. If you read my journal post Birthday Reflections from February you would see I started school again. I have one full-time year of school to get my bachelors in Web Development and according to Forbes Magazine with only an associate’s degree, you have a promising career ahead of you. I’ve been going crazy balancing homework, working out and trying to get everything else done too. I’ve got to do better.

Expanding My Education, not my Waistline…

So, I’m expanding my education, but I’m happy to say shrinking my size. I can tell you this, even though until this morning I have been avoiding the scale. I fit into a coat comfortably that was tight before. I also weighed myself and lost 7 lbs.

I have been buying lots of broccoli and salad. I’ve said this before too, but I love vegetables, so eating more of them hasn’t been a problem. I’ve started having one egg, egg whites with steamed broccoli for breakfast and I am stuffed and stay full for a while from all the protein and fiber. I’m trying not to eat carbs too late in the day but there are still days when I eat chocolate cake or toasted fresh Italian bread with butter (yum).

Right now, I’m sitting here on a sunny Saturday. After running the stairs for 45 minutes, I’m drinking my chocolate almond milk, banana, peanut butter and ice smoothie (tastes like a chocolate frosty). It felt fantastic. The sun was streaming down and warmed my skin as I ran up and down the stairs.

I LOVE my new gym…

It’s so convenient now that I’ve been doing it for a few weeks, and as of right now it’s not busy. The gym just opened and they are building up everything around them, so I’m sure it will get busier. I have been doing both cardio (stepper, different stepper, running machine, rowing machine, and a new machine that goes side to side).

Resistance Training…

I am also still following Jamie Easton’s Live Fit 12-Week Trainer. Phase 1 of the program is, “build muscle.” I am on week three because we were in Florida for Spring Break last week and I missed a few days so I just started week three over when I got home. Yesterday, I did delts (shoulders) and abs. Today was a day off of resistance training, so I just did cardio (the stairs).

I am excited about the juice and smoothie bar they are building in the gym. I am also excited to meet the instructor who teaches a Power class or punching and kicking bags, yeah. I love that brings me back to a long time ago and Tae Kwon Do (Korean martial arts) and how I loved all of that. So, I am looking forward to taking a Power class sometime soon. Lots of fun things coming up in this gym.

What’s Next…

Personally, it’s keeping myself accountable. Eating tons and tons of veggies that fill me up most of the time, along with protein and some carbs. It’s only eating a small piece of cake. It’s continuing to believe in myself and get stronger all the time, get really fit. It’s trying to keep up with everything else while doing my best with all my classes. For Fionafitnessfun.com it’s working on these posts about people in the fitness industry. I am working on a post about a spinning instructor she is fantastic and I’m excited to share my experience in her class, what spinning is all about and what it’s like being a spinning instructor.

Hope you are all healthy and happy and working hard towards your dreams and goals because I believe in you!
